Akoto Ampaw

Anthony Akoto Ampaw also known as "Che Che" (14 June 1971[1] - 20 October 2023[2]) was a Ghanaian lawyer and human rights activist. He was the head of the legal team defending President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s win in the 2020 Presidential elections at the Supreme Court.[1][2]

Early life and education[edit]

Akoto Ampaw was born on 14 June 1971.[1] He graduated from the University of Ghana, LL.B. in the year 1973 and the Ghana School of Law, B.L. in the year 1993.[1][2]

Career[edit]

Akoto Ampaw worked as a lawyer and human rights activist.[1][2] He was a member of the New Patriotic Party’s legal team in the 2013 Election Petition, which challenged the election of President John Dramani Mahama.[1][2] Akoto Ampaw was a partner of the law firm, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co.[1][2]

Akoto Ampaw was again member of the New Patriotic Party’s legal team when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was re-elected for a second term in office and former President John Mahama challenged the election results at the Supreme Court.[2]
