Samuel Amo Tobbin
Samuel Amo Tobbin is a Ghanaian businessman and a philanthropist.[1][2][3] He is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tobinco Group of Companies, an umbrella entity which oversees the operations of seven distinct companies including Tobinco Pharmaceuticals, Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Centre, Atinka Media Village, Abii National Savings[4] and Loans, Priority Insurance, DOR Events and Toblues Properties.[5]
Early life and education
Samuel was born in Accra Newtown, a suburb in Accra, the capital city of Ghana, into a family of 8. He started hawking on the street at an early age to support his poor family. After his elementary education, he attended Royal Academy of Accountancy in Newtown but, due to financial constraints, he dropped out. He began his trade in pharmaceutical products by supplying to chemical and pharmacy shops in villages[6].
Career
In 1997, he opened his second retail shop at Kotobabi after the first one at Dansoman. In his quest to expand his company, he started importing his pharmaceuticals from India. In January 2003, Mr. Tobbin registered Tobinco Pharmaceutical Limited. He extended the scope of his company into banking, health, education, construction, events centres, insurance and media.[7]
Personal life
He is married to Mrs. Mercy Tobbin and they have three children. He is a Christian and an Elder of The Church Of Pentecost.[8]
