Akshay Bam
Akshay Bam (also known as Akshay Kanti Bam, Akshay Jain), is an Indian entrepreneur and politician from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. In 2024 Indian general election in Madhya Pradesh, Akshay filed his nomination from Indian National Congress. He was pitted against sitting BJP MP Shankar Lalwani from the Indore Lok Sabha seat and just before the deadline for withdrawing nominations, he withdrew his nomination and joined Bharatiya Janata Party.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
Akshay was born to Kantilal Bam. He completed his primary education at Daly College and earned the Bcom (Hons) degree from Sydenham Institute of Management Studies, Research and Entrepreneurship Education (SIMSREE), Mumbai. Later he completed an LLB (Hons) from PMB Gujarati Commerce College, Indore, and an MBA from Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. He also has a PhD in Business Administration and Management from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore.[4][5]
Controversy
Bam had filed his nomination as the Congress candidate on April 23. But on April 29, Kailash Vijayvargiya, Madhya Pradesh Cabinet minister and BJP leader announced that Akshay Bam had withdrawn the nomination and joined the BJP. Congress alleged that he was under pressure as an attempt to murder charge was added against him.[6]
