Al-Futtaim Contracting is a division of Al-Futtaim Real Estate active in United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt.[1]

History

Al-Futtaim Contracting history goes back to 1974 when Al-Futtaim Engineering was founded to provide building and facility management services in the Middle East.[2] During the late 1980s and 1990s, it diversified into scaffolding, form-work, MEP contracting, and worked on projects such as Dubai Metro and Dubai Festival City.[1]

In the 2000s and 2010s, the company expanded its operations into other countries.[2] Its Qatar operations secured a five-year MEP maintenance agreement with Aspire Logistics in 2013.[3] Other projects included Lusail City's Burj Al Marina residential tower, an IKEA store at Doha Festival City, and the Lusail Heritage Quarter mosque and cultural village.[3] In 2015, its Qatar division entered a joint venture with Voltas, an Indian company, securing a QR 500 MEP contract for Doha Festival City Mall and Vendome Mall.[4]

In 2016, Al-Futtaim established its Control and Life Safety division after approval from the Dubai Civil Defence.[5]

In 2018, Al-Futtaim began work on the Etihad Rail project in the UAE.

Operations

Al-Futtaim Contracting is structured into four specialized divisions: General Contracting, Engineering, Technologies, and Facilities Management. These divisions provide construction and building services, including air conditioning and HVAC systems, fire and safety systems, elevators and escalators, scaffolding and access equipment, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) contracting, and facilities management services.[6][7] Al-Futtaim Contracting also provides facilities management services, including a government contract to maintain public schools in the UAE. It has an Energy & Sustainability unit for green retrofitting projects and is adopting digital construction technologies.[1]

Al-Futtaim Contracting maintains regional offices, with its Saudi division in Jeddah and Riyadh, and the Qatar division based in Doha.[3]
