Albert Henry Marckwardt (December 1, 1903 – 1975)[1] was an American linguist and professor emeritus of English and linguistics at the University of Michigan.[2][3]
Career[edit]
Marckwardt first studied linguistics at the University of Michigan. He received a Ph.D. in 1933. He was the former president of the American Dialect Society, Linguistic Society of America, National Council of Teachers of English, and vice chairman of the American Council of Learned Societies. He was a part of Princeton University's faculty from 1963 - 1972.[2]
