Aldrin Ocay Soriano is a first-termer Municipal Councilor of Mangaldan, Pangasinan. He was a former news reporter and multimedia journalist of TV Patrol North Central Luzon from 2013 to 2016[1]. He graduated cum laude at the UP College of Mass Communication in University of the Philippines Diliman in 2012 with a degree in Broadcast Communication. He is currently taking up Bachelor of Laws at the College of Law of the University of Pangasinan PHINMA located in Dagupan City[2].

Political Career[edit]

His father, Alfredo "Kap Fredi" Soriano was supposed to be elected for his third term as councilor when he died due to aneurysm three weeks before the 2016 national and local elections[3]. Aldrin resigned from ABS-CBN Regional Network Group and Integrated News and Current Affairs and substituted for his father's candidacy. He said that he believed in the platforms of his father's team led by Mayor Bona Fe De Vera-Parayno and Vice Mayor Atty. Jojo Surdilla, so he did not hesitate to run.


Aldrin won in the 5th place as municipal councilor with a week for him to campaign. He now chairs the most number of committee in the Sangguniang Bayan. The following are the committees he chairs:

Early Life[edit]

Aldrin Soriano was born in August 14, 1991 at Nazareth General Hospital in Dagupan City when his mother was rushed to the hospital upon needing a caesarian section operation. His father is a former Barangay Captain of Guilig and Municipal Councilor Alfredo "Kap Fredi" Soriano and Ma. Marilyn O. Soriano, a businesswoman[2].

He was raised in simple living and was tasked to help in their family business and he also used to accompany his mother in the public market. He has one sibling, Frelyn Soriano-Retig who is a year older than him.

Academic Life and School Leadership[edit]

Aldrin spent his early-child schooling as a companion to his sister Frelyn at UMC Cinderella School. A year after, he was enrolled at Mangaldan I Central School for nursery until he graduated in the 6th grade as with honors. He was a consistent honor student and recipient of various recognition. He was also an active Science Club officer and has been voted as Homeroom Class Mayor from 1st grade to 6th grade. He was also elected as Vice Governor of the Grade One and Six Batch while he was elected as Governor of the Grade Batch from Grades Two to Five.

In 2004, Aldrin enrolled at the biggest school in Region I, the Mangaldan National High School as part of the Special Science Stream Class. In his freshman and sophomore year, he was elected to the Supreme Student Government (SSG), an umbrella organization of all organizations in the school, as the Class Chairperson or the one who have garnered the highest vote. In his junior year, Aldrin was elected to a national position in SSG as Public Information Officer, and on his senior year, he was elected as President of SSG garnering the widest margin against his opponent.

In high school, he was active in participating in various leadership training, joined and won several competition in the division, regional, and even national level. He was a Science researcher wherein he studied on anti-bacterial properties of some species. His studies together with his team won in the regional and national level of Intel Philippines Science Fair and Association of Science Educators in the Philippines (ASEP).

Aldrin was also part of the school publication The Clarion and Ang Tambuli wherein he was a writer and photojournalist from Sophomore to Senior year. He joined and won in the division and regional schools press conference for two consecutive years. From freshman to senior class, Aldrin was Pangasinan Division II's champion in Desktop Publishing under the Student Technologist and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines. He was a regional and national awardee wherein his national competition was held in 2007 at Davao City and he placed 4th.

He took his undergraduate degree at the University of the Philippine College of Mass Communication and graduated as cum Laude with a degree in Broadcast Communication. He was a university and college scholar for some semesters.[5]
