Early Life
Saad has played piano since she was 5 years old and wrote her first song at 12, titled "Bad Day". Later, she studied physics at the Loyola University Maryland. During her studies, she then realized "I actually wanted to pursue music" and subsequently began focusing on music production.[1]
Musical Career
2016-2018: Career as 'alxxa"
Saad released her debut single, "fire", on January 26th, 2016 under the stage name 'alxxa'.[2]
She received acclaim for her artistry, praised by sites like Vanyaland[3][4], Nylon[5], and Perez Hilton[6], and worked with the producer and DJ Gazzo.[7] Her music was featured on high-traffic Spotify playlists like New Music Friday, Weekly Buzz, Discover Weekly and Weekly Radar,[8] along with appearing on Billboard Heatseekers twice.[9]
Additionally, her EP 'Body,' also received positive reviews from music sites including C-Heads[10], Run the Trap[11], and That Drop[12]
Saad's final single as alxxa was 'Haunted', released on November 20th, 2018.[13]
As of February 25th, 2020, Saad is still listed on Red Bull Media House under the name "alxxa".[14][15]
2018-present: Switch from 'alxxa' to 'sad alex' and commercial success
Following a hiatus of a few months, Saad resurfaced in a collaboration with Ashley All Day on the song "Bad Bitch Christmas," as "Sad Alex" (with capitals).[16] She subsequently began performing under the stage name 'sad alex', releasing a collaboration with Vincent on his EP "For You". [17] She subsequently released singles 'routine', 'dear whatever', 'good stuff'[18], and 'new heartbreak'[19]. With her release of “all the way over” on Feb 2, 2020, Saad also announced that she had signed with Red Bull Records.[20]
On May 1st, 2020, Saad live-debuted two new songs during the Red Bull Virtual Music Festival and performed her previous single "all the way over".

In her first vlog, Saad mentioned an unreleased EP. She also confirmed that she used to perform as alxxa[44].
In her second vlog, she mentioned that she was of Palestinian heritage.[45]
On one of her TikTok livestreams, she mentioned that she will be releasing an album called 'i thought that i'd know by now' around May 2024.
