Ali Alam Qamar (Urdu: علی عالم قمر) is a entrepreneur in Pakistan. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Zarea Limited, a Lahore-based business-to-business (B2B) digital commodities trading platform.[1]

Early life and education

Ali Alam Qamar was born in Lahore Pakistan. He did his early education from Aitchison College in Lahore. He pursued a Bachelor of Science in Management from SOAS University of London.[2] After that he completed a Master of Finance degree at the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School.[3]

Career

Zarea Limited

In 2020, Ali founded Zarea Limited, a digital B2B platform designed to facilitate commodity procurement in Pakistan’s construction and industrial sectors. The company operates in product categories such as cement, steel, chemicals, and fertilizers.[4][5]

In February 2025, Zarea conducted its initial public offering (IPO) on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), raising over PKR 1.03 billion. The IPO was oversubscribed by 1.9 times. According to media reports, Zarea became the first Pakistani e-commerce startup to go public on the main board of the PSX.[6][7]

Awards and recognition

To transform Punjab into a business-friendly province, CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz appointed Ali Alam Qamar as the focal person with unanimous support.[8][9]

In December 2023, the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) of Pakistan awarded Ali the Zone Enterprise license for his company Zarea.[10]
