Birth & death

Born: 1871 in Nagalpur, Mandvi - Gujarat, India migrating to Zanzibar in 1886. Died: 28 March 1957 following a short illness. He was buried at the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Kabrastan near Raha Leo. His grave was demolished when the Kabrastan was flattened by the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar after the 1964 revolution[1].

Ali Nathoo worked as a merchant and was considered a philanthropist. He served as a President of the khoja Shia Ithna Asheri of Zanzibar, for 28 years, and financed the building of the entire first floor of the Shia Ithna Asheri Mosque on Hamamni Street, Zanzibar, Tanzania[2].
