The Bhats are an Indo-Aryan clan of Kshatriyas. The Bhats reside primarily in the Punjab region of Pakistan and Northwestern India. They are also considered to be part of the Jatt People of Kashmir and Punjab.
Culture[edit]
Many Bhats of the older generation who profess to be Sikhs still adhere to Vedic customs such as; avoiding the consumption of beef and bovine products, fasting on auspicious days, offering worship to deities and performing pilgrimage to sacred sites in the Himalayas and along the riverbanks of the Indo-Gangetic plain.
Clan System[edit]
The Bhat people are subdivided into twenty-two Kshatriya Gotras. The Bhats are descended from four lineages.[citation needed]
