Alice Karin Söndergaard (born 22 May 2003) is a Swedish footballer who plays as a striker for Genoa C.F.C. Women in the Italian Serie A.
Career
Youth career
Söndergaard began playing football at the age of six with Lerums IS, encouraged by her father and older brother. At the age of 15 she made her debut with the Sweden U15, becoming a regular presence in the youth squads.
She later joined the youth sector of Göteborg FC, where she played with the under-19 team.
BK Häcken
At 17, Söndergaard signed her first professional contract with BK Häcken, a club competing in the top tier of Swedish women's football (Damallsvenskan). Although she did not make any official appearances with the senior team, she featured consistently for BK Häcken II, making 8 appearances and scoring 2 goals.
In 2022 she moved to Seattle, USA for about a year, where she studied communication and continued her physical preparation before returning to Sweden to rejoin BK Häcken for a brief spell.[2]
Sampdoria
In the summer of 2023 she moved to Italy, signing with Sampdoria in Serie A. She made 6 league appearances for the club without scoring.[2]
Hellas Verona
In February 2024 she joined Hellas Verona Women on loan in Serie B. With the Gialloblù she enjoyed more consistent playing time and scoring form, netting 10 goals in the second half of the season.[2]
Bologna
For the 2024–25 season she moved on loan to Bologna Women (Serie B). With the Rossoblù she continued her positive run, scoring 8 goals in the league campaign.[3]
Genoa
In the summer of 2025 Söndergaard signed a two-year contract with Genoa, running until 2027.[4]
On August 22, 2025, she made her debut with Rossoblù in the newly established Serie A Women’s Cup, in the match Genoa vs Inter 1–2.[5]
On September 21, she scored her first goal (in fact, her first brace) wearing the Genoa shirt, becoming the first foreign player ever to score two goals in the same match for the Genoa club. Furthermore, on October 5, 2025, she scored the first Serie A goal of her career, which also marked Genoa’s first-ever goal in Italy’s top division. Genoa would nonetheless go on to lose that match 1–2 against Milan.[6][7]
International career
Alice Söndergaard began her international journey with the Sweden U15 national team. She earned four caps and scored one goal during her tenure with the team. Progressing through the ranks, Söndergaard represented the Sweden U16 national team, earning nine caps and scoring three goals. Söndergaard's involvement with the Sweden U17 national team spanned from 2019 to 2021. During this period, she made two appearances. Notably, she participated in a friendly match against Germany on 14 September 2019, where Sweden faced a 4–1 defeat.[8]
