Allegiance Communications is an American provider of cable TV, broadband Internet, and VOIP telephony services to rural and mid-size markets in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. Allegiance Communications corporate headquarters are located in Shawnee, Oklahoma, with a basic subscriber base of more than 40,000 customers.[1] It is now part of Vyve Broadband.[2]
History[edit]
Beginning in 2004 as a unit of The Wicks Group, Allegiance acquired small cable systems and subscribers in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. The company bought a large group of systems totaling 29,000 subscribers from Charter Communications in 2006.[1][3]
On January 16, 2013 BCI Broadband and Allegiance Communications announced an agreement under which a newly formed subsidiary of BCI will acquire Allegiance in a transaction expected to close early in 2013. The announcement also marks the origination of a partnership between BCI's management and BBH Capital Partners (BBHCP), a private equity fund sponsored by Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., one of the nation's oldest and best-regarded financial institutions.
BCI is a newly organized, next-generation broadband MSO formed by the executive management team from pioneering cable operator Bresnan Communications. Led by President and CEO Jeffrey S. DeMond and Andrew Kober, EVP and CFO, the team is acquiring the Allegiance properties as the first transaction in an aggressive growth plan by the company.[4]
