Allegro was a jazz/fusion ensemble from the USSR, founded in 1978 by a pianist, composer and arranger Nikolay (Nick) Levinovsky.

The ensemble was the first jazz project of philharmonic caliber. In the USSR, Allegro records were released in large numbers. According to polls of Soviet critics, Nikolai Levinovsky and Allegro became musician of the year and ensemble of the year, respectively. Allegro performed at international festivals – Pori Jazz Festival, Zagreb Jazz Festival, Lisboa Jazz Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival and many others.

In 1986, the Allegro's album *Sphinx* was reissued by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, as a part of the cultural exchange.
