Alliance Media is an African Out-of-home advertising agency, headquartered in Sandton, Johannesburg that offers a range of advertising including billboards, digital billboards, airport advertising, mall advertising and street furniture across Africa.

History[edit]

Alliance Media was established in 1997 in Zimbabwe with a straightforward objective: to offer shelter to commuters enduring prolonged waits for transport in adverse weather conditions. The Bus Shelter concept emerged as a solution, financed through advertising.

A collaborative effort was initiated, involving city councils, advertisers, and the company. Alliance Media was named from the outset, underscoring the importance of partnerships in its operations. Coca-Cola, a forward-thinking entity, became the inaugural client for Alliance Media's bus shelters. With their backing and the success of the bus shelter initiative, the company swiftly diversified into other mediums, embarking on a journey to become a comprehensive African outdoor media owner.[2]

Geographic Coverage[edit]

Alliance Media operates in over 40 African countries[3] and offers a broad range of advertising options exceeding 25,000[4] throughout the continent.

Transit Advertising[edit]

Noteworthy in Alliance Media's portfolio is its engagement in transit advertising. The company has actively implemented advertising campaigns on various transit platforms including collaboration with Metro_Express_(Mauritius), where Alliance Media has been the selected advertising business partner since August 28, 2020. This partnership involves advertising on Metro Express LRVs and stations, extending the company's reach to a diverse audience.[5]

Corporate Social Responsibility[edit]

Earth Day Partnership[edit]

Alliance Media, continually partners with EARTHDAY.ORG in impactful campaigns promoting environmental awareness. In the lead-up to Earth Day 2021, Alliance Media donated ad space for EARTHDAY.ORG's "Restore Our Earth" campaign, showcasing the "Beginning of the Mend" creative on digital billboards across Southern, East, and West Africa[6]. The collaboration continued in 2023 with the "Be the Face of Change" campaign, empowering individuals and communities towards a sustainable future.[7] Alliance Media's commitment to using its advertising platforms for positive change aligns with EARTHDAY.ORG's global mission.
