Career[edit]
Voice recording[edit]
In addition to her work voicing the Astrisk Open Source PBX, Smith has also voiced telephony platforms for Verizon Communications, Qwest, Cingular, Vonage, Bell Canada, Sprint Corporation, and Hawaiian Telcom as well as IVR prompts for companies such as PetSmart, State Farm Insurance, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.[3] Smith has also voiced the recorded information lines for pharmaceutical companies Janssen Biotech and Novo Nordisk. In 2008, Smith contributed her voice to a text-to-speech utility developed by Cepstral.[4]
Appearances and interviews[edit]
At the 2015 Astricon, Smith made a presentation entitled "Why On Hold is Broken - And Ways we Can Fix It!" that sought to change people's perspective about on hold systems; to see them as an opportunity to reinforce their brand, a vehicle to empower the customer, and to show the caller that the company truly values their time and intelligence.[5]
In January 2015, Smith also hosted a Reddit AMA about her work as professional voice talent, who specializes in voicing telephone prompts.[6]
