Alpha Funds was founded by James “J.D.” Russell, a former federal law enforcement game warden and technology entrepreneur who flew as a crew member aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard sub-orbital mission NS-28 on November 22, 2024.[3][4]

Alpha Funds LLC was registered in Florida in June 2025. Following its formation, the firm announced its first thematic vehicle, Alpha Aerospace, which focuses on start-ups in propulsion, launch support, and in-orbit manufacturing.[1]

Operations

Alpha Funds operates as an early-stage venture capital investor. The firm has a wholly owned subsidiary, AlphaAero, which functions as a corporate venturing arm to source and co-invest in aerospace deals.[5]
