Alptekin Aydın is a Turkish-British psychologist[1][2] who specialises in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).[3] His interests include addiction treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy, bioresonance, and developmental disorders.
Aydın is known for treatment that combines transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), bioresonance therapy (quantum frequency technology), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).[1][4]
Early life and education[edit]
Aydın was born in Moda, Istanbul, Turkey. He attended Moda Primary School and Kenan Evren High School.
Aydın graduated with honors from the University of Istanbul with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. He also has a Master of Science degree in Addiction Studies from King's College London.[1][4] Aydın completed his European TMS Certification Course at Maastricht University, Netherlands.[3]
Career[edit]
In Istanbul, Turkey, Aydın worked as a Psychology Assistant Practitioner, helping diagnose children with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and learning disorders.[5][6]
While working towards his Master's degree in June 2014, Aydın had his clinical replacement at the Beresford Project Alcohol service.[7]
In 2015, Aydın became a gambling addiction therapist at Redcard Gambling Support.[4][5] Around this time, Aydın finished developing his AIM mobile application as a project for his master's thesis. He presented it for the first time at a conference supported by the Addiction Studies Association.[1][4] The application uses ecological momentary assessment (EMA) and to collect data about users' drinking habits and to track blood alcohol levels and POMS (profile of mood states).[4]
After receiving his certification in TMS in 2019, Aydın has often been consulted on TMS, addiction, and psychology in news publications and programs such as Avrupa, CNN Turk's Sağlık Kontrolü,[8][9] Euro Genç TV,[10] TV8,5's Life Style,[11] and Hürriyet.[12]
Recent research[edit]
In January 2021, Aydın designed a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with MagVenture TMS Therapy, which is approved by US FDA regulation. Aydın uses these treatments for issues such as panic attacks and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Affiliations and memberships[edit]
Aydın is a member of the British Psychological Society[13] and the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professions (FDAP).[14]
He is also an FDAP Advanced Practitioner.[15][9]
