Altron (株式会社アルトロン Kabushiki-Gaisha Arutoron) is a Japanese video game developer and publisher founded in 1983 and based in Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo. It has developed or published games for the Nintendo 64, PlayStation, Sega Saturn, Super Nintendo, Sega Mega Drive, Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo DS, Game Boy and Game Boy Color video game systems as well as for the PC.[1][2]
History[edit]
Initially selling Western products, the company began localizing foreign games for the Japanese market in 1991, and then developing games in its own right. The company stopped publishing games in the early 2000s. They instead focused on oursourcing work for foreign publishers, mainly based on well-known franchises from TV and toys. In the 2010s they changed focus again, this time developing original mobile games which they self-publish in all regions. The majority of their current releases are card/tile games or virtual pet simulations.
