Alya Manasa (born 27 May 1992),[2] known mononymously as Alya, is an Indian actress who predominantly acts in Tamil films and a leading actress in television dramas. She is well known for her role as Sembaruthi aka Semba in the soap opera Raja Rani on Star Vijay[3][4][5] and her appearance in the dance show Maanada Mayilada (season 10) (2017) on Kalaignar TV as a contestant. She later made her Tamil cinematic acting debut in 2017, in the comedy film Julieum 4 Perum as the lead cast and alongside comedy actor Amudhavanan, where she played as the character Manisha. Alya was also featured in various different music videos and short films after her debut in Kollywood. She has received 4 awards, including 2 Vijay Television Awards, 1 Behindwoods Gold Icons, and 1 Behindwoods Gold Medal Awards, she is one of the highest-paid television actresses in Kollywood.[6]

Before her acting career Alya was a contestant in the dance show Maanada Mayilada which telecast on Kalaignar TV in 2017. Manasa later made her television acting debut by portraying as Sembaruthi aka Semba, the lead role, in the Star Vijay soap opera Raja Rani along side Sanjeev as the other lead.[7][8][9] Manasa also won the best Heroine award in 2019 and the best Daughter-In-Law category in the Vijay Television Awards in 2021. In 2020, she played an important role in the serial Senthoora Poove as Sandhya. She also acted in a Tamil film called Julieum 4 Perum playing as a supporting role called Manisha. Manasa later returned in the second season of Raja Rani playing a new role called Sandhya Saravanan.[10][11][12] Alya was listed three times as the top 20 most "desirable woman on television", she was also listed by the Chennai Times as the seventh most "desirable woman on television" in 2017, as the ninth most "desirable woman on television" in 2018. And yet again as the seventh most "desirable woman on television" in 2020.[13][14][15] In 2019, she played a small role in the soap opera Bharathi Kannamma as Dr. Hema. She was also praised by her fans and viewers for still working during her pregnancy stages.[16][17] In 2021, she posted a video with her baby daughter which was one of the most viewed Instagram post with other massive South Indian star icons such as Samantha Akkineni and Keerthy Suresh.[18][promotion?] Manasa and her husband Sanjeev won the best 'Best Popular Pair - Television' award by behindwoods in 2018.[19][20] Alya also acted in the music videos of songs such as Chittu Kuruviye and KAATHADI. She also acted in the Tamil short film Ennai Maatrum Kadhale playing the role as Sandya.
