Americana Pictures is an independent entertainment company founded in 2020 by American filmmaker Josh Cox.[2] The company develops, produces and distributes queer media. Its most notable title is the feature film Summer of Mesa, a gay romantic drama released in 2020.[3]
History
Prior to Americana Pictures' inception, Cox dropped out of college to work in the film industry in Los Angeles, California. Not finding fulfillment, Cox began developing independent original media content looking to explore queer narratives[4] back home on Cape Cod, stating “With my independent production company Americana Pictures, I am so excited to continue capturing the Cape and all of its beauty in my projects going forward.”[5]
The company's first feature film Summer of Mesa, which appears in several LGBTQ+ independent film Top 10 Lists such as GCN Magazine[6] and Film Daily[7], released in May of 2020 after the company had branched into the distribution landscape.
