Happiful magazine is an award-winning UK-based print and digital publication, specialising in mental health and wellbeing topics. The magazine was founded 20 March 2017, on International Day of Happiness, and publishes issues monthly.

Issues cover topical mental health and wellbeing topics, explore a spectrum of experiences, and include expert-led advice, practical help, investigative features, and real-life stories.

In addition to the print magazine, Happiful is also available in a free digital format, in-app, and articles are published on its website throughout the month. Happiful also has an award-winning podcast, ‘I am. I have’.

Happiful is brand of Memiah Ltd, and is located at Building B, Riverside Way Camberley, Surrey, GU15 3YL, and printed in the UK.

History[edit]

Happiful magazine was created by Memiah Ltd, which was founded in 2005 by sisters Aimi Maunders and Emma White. Inspired by their own experiences trying to find mental health support, they created five professional directories within the health and wellness sector: Counselling Directory, Hypnotherapy Directory, Therapy Directory, Life Coach Directory, and Nutritionist Resource.

Happiful magazine was created as another branch to help people connect with mental health support.

While print issues were initially only available to order online, in October 2017, Happiful magazine began to be sold on UK newsstands.[1]

In December 2020, Happiful relaunched[2] in a bigger size, and with a new price of £5.99.

Ethics[edit]

In 2018, Happiful announced its Pride Pledge, an editorial code to support and uplift LGBTQ+ voices and stories in the magazine.[3]

In August 2019, Happiful became a registered B-Corporation[4], a certification awarded to companies which met rigorous social and environmental standards.

In order to ensure that mental health information is accessible to all, regardless of their financial situation, the digital edition of Happiful is free to read and download, and is supported by those who pay for the print edition.[5]

Happiful magazine also has a Tree Pledge, where, for every tree that is used to make the magazines, it plants two in its place.

Awards[edit]

  • Consumer Magazine of the Year (2019), PPA Independent Publisher's Awards
  • Podcast of the Year (2019), PPA Independent Publisher's Awards[6]
