Amilian
Kelly Liles (born January 31.[1]), known professionally as Amilian, is an American vocalist who works extensively as a rapper[2]. Born in Montgomery, Alabama, and raised in Prattville, she released her first album Milli's World, in 2018 and has since played various venues, including Miami Live at Miami Beach, Florida[2]. She has also played extensively in the Atlanta area.
Early life[edit]
Born three months premature, Amilian has suffered from epilepsy from an early age[3]. When she was five years old, Amilian's father gifted her a karaoke machine that kickstarted her music interest. Her early influences included various artists such as Britney Spears, LeAnn Rimes, and Judy Garland, inspiring her future diversity. Her enjoyment developed into regular karaoke parties with friends and family[2].
At the age of 19, a friend of Amilian suggested that she turn her talent at poetry into songwriting. However, before finding a footing in the industry, she married young to an abusive partner[2]. Amilian has said that attempts to begin a career in music were repeatedly thwarted by this controlling relationship, with her husband's arguments, violence, and the deliberate breaking of equipment curtailing her asperations[4].
Career[edit]
Following the end of her marriage, Amilian moved to Pensacola, Florida[5], and began to release her music on Smule[6], eventually starting to record at Mix Perfect Studios alongside producer Theory Formed[7].
On January 24, 2018, Amilian released her first mixtape, Milli's World[8], which received just under 100,000 streams in just a few weeks[9]. In September, Amilian released Swag Featuring Theory Formed[10], the first single from her forthcoming album.
Amilian continued to release music in 2019, releasing Hunnid featuring Theory Formed & Flava Hype in May. The song had been performed live the previous month at Vinyl @ Centerstage in Atlanta and was her first song to feature on Spotify [11]. Her latest release, Bangaz, saw her feature alongside Montgomery, Alabama artist, Geezle; the track being released on June 15, 2021[12]
Artistry[edit]
Amilian has a diverse range and has stated that she likes her music to "have a piece of her in it," the finished work coming in collaboration with Theory Formed, her producer at Mix Perfect Studios.[2]
She is hands-on with every aspect of her career, taking roles including graphic design, producing, photography, make-up, and fashion design, having released her own apparel in 2017.[3]
Alongside her work as a solo artist, Amilian is part of Running Each and Every Lane (R.E.E.L) alongside frequent collaborators Theory Formed and Flava Hype[2]. The trio has performed shows in Florida and Alabama.

Personal Life[edit]
Amilian is a mother to four children and is divorced.[2], having spoken openly about being a survivor of domestic abuse for seven years[4]. She has stated that her experiences during this time, where she was forbidden to make music or even leave home, made her more robust as a person[2]. She is a Christian and has stated her belief in the power of prayer.[5]. She suffers from PTSD, anxiety, and depression[3]
Partially to fund her music and as a way out of her former relationship, Amilian foundered Pocket Assistant in 2015, which offers website design and development alongside other tech services.[2]
Her father was one of the great inspirations behind her career, with Amilian saying that she regrets him passing away in 2017 before he got "to see what I've become now."[2]
