Early life[edit]

Ayoub started his martial arts journey at the tender age of 15. He began training different striking disciplines such as Muay Thai, Karate, Taekwondo, Savate, San Shou, Kickboxing, and boxing before he made the decision to switch to MMA after his coach introduced him to the sport through an old footage of the now-defunct Pride Fighting Championship.[3]

MMA’s all-encompassing nature made him a fan, prompting him to pursue a career in the sport at 19 years old in 2014.[3] As a competitor, he looked up to former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion George St-Pierre.

Mixed Martial Arts Career[edit]

Early Mixed Martial Arts Career[edit]

Ayoub started his stint in MMA on the wrong foot, suffering two-straight setbacks to his compatriots such as Mamadou Gueye[4] and Yanis Ghemmouri[5] via decision in 2014. However, he bounced back on a strong note at the start of 2015, sparking a remarkable six-fight winning streak—with four victories coming by way of submission.[6]

In 2016, his talent began to be noticed overseas—particularly in Europe and the Middle East. Ayoub traveled to countries like Jordan, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Finland and Belgium. Ayoub received his first big break under the banner of Abu Dhabi Warriors, which is now known as UAE Warriors.[7]

Ayoub became a two-division champion in UAE Warriors, submitting Ahmad Labban in the first round with an armbar to capture the welterweight crown in May 2019[7] and then choking out Lebanese rival Yousef Wehbe with an arm-triangle in their rematch two months later to take home the lightweight belt.[8]

BRAVE Combat Federation[edit]

With his stellar run in the regional circuit, it paved the way for Ayoub to be signed by BRAVE CF.[9] He made his maiden appearance in the promotion at BRAVE CF 31 in Durban, South Africa, where he faced Djamil Chan of the Netherlands in a 160-pound catchweight contest. He left a lasting impression in his first assignment, submitting the Dutch stalwart in the third round courtesy of a guillotine choke.[10]

Ayoub was supposed to make his second outing under BRAVE CF in March 2020, but the event numbered BRAVE CF 35 was canceled due to the soaring cases of the novel coronavirus. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Ayoub as he landed a lightweight title shot against Brazilian champion Cleiton Silva at BRAVE CF 44 in November of that year.

At BRAVE CF 44, Ayoub captured the BRAVE CF Lightweight World Championship at the expense of Silva.[11] He dethroned the Brazilian with a barrage of punches, becoming the fifth titleholder of the 155-pound top prize in the history of the organization.[12]

Ayoub was supposed to make his first defense of his world title at BRAVE CF 50 in April 2021 in a grudge match with Ahmed Amir, but the latter opted to pull out of the bout and cited a shoulder and neck injury as the reason for his withdrawal.

Mashrabjon Ruziboev filled in for Amir at BRAVE CF 50 to square off with Ayoub in a 163-pound catchweight clash. The Frenchman walked away with the victory by way of unanimous decision.
