Amir Aldaraji (born 20 May 2001) is an American-Iraqi footballer who plays as a midfielder for Al-Zawra'a SC in the Iraqi Premier League.
Career
Born in Virginia, Aldaraji started his career with Barcelona Academy in California. After that, he played for Tennessee SC U16. After spending time in Tennessee, he joined the Chicago Fire Academy[1][2]. He got offered to play for Chelsea Academy[3][4] but it didn’t work out. He was about to sign for Nashville SC[5][6] as a homegrown player, but lately he signed his first professional contract with Richmond Kickers[7] in the USL League One. Before the season started, he decided to leave the club and joined Al-Zawraa SC[8] in the Iraqi Premier League.
International Career
Aldaraji was called up for the Iraqi National Team U20s[9][10][11] to represent Iraq in the AFC Championship U19[12][13]. He was recently invited to the Iraq National Team Under 23 camp for training and was interviewed[14] and said it’s always an honor to represent his home country.
Personal Life
He was born to Iraqi parents who came to the United States in 1994[15][16], and he started playing football at a very young age. His cousin is also a professional footballer, Alaa Mhawi, who plays for the Iraqi National Team.
