Dr. Amit K.Suman

Amit K. Suman is an Indian historian who specialises in Colonial South Asian studies. His major research interest focuses on the themes like History of Education, Indigenous Knowledge Traditions, Literary and Intellectual Traditions and question of Colonial Interventions and Indian Knowledge Networks. In Paedagogica Historica: International Journal of History of Education, Indian Historical Review, NMML Occasional Papers, Social Scientist, Sub Versions, and other prestigious journals/edited volumes, he has published extensively on History of Education, Indigenous Knowledge Traditions, Literary and Intellectual Traditions, and the question of Colonial Interventions and Indian Knowledge Networks in Early Modern and Modern South Asia.

Educational Qualifications and work[edit]

Dr. Suman got his Bachelors degree in History Hons from Satyawati College (Eve.), University of Delhi in the year 2007. He continued his studies and completed his Masters in Art from Ramajas College University of Delhi, 2009. Before going for his PhD. Dr. Suman attained his PG Diploma from School of Archival Studies, National Archives of India in the year 2010.

Dr. Suman has worked at various places such as Nehru Memorial Musuem and Library (August 2018-July 2020 Junior Fellow) German Historical Institute, London, UK (April-June 2017 as Visting Fellow) and at Department of History, Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, Delhi (Since February 2015 as Assistant Professor)

Over the years he has taught subjects such as History of India from 1707-1857, History of India from 1605-1707, History of India from 1556-1605, Social Formations and Cultural Patterns of Ancient and Medieval World and Cultures in Indian Subcontinent.
