Amit Spitzer (Hebrew: עמית שפיצר; born 1988) is an Israeli entrepreneur in the Israeli high-tech industry. He currently serves (since 2021) as the Chief Security Officer at Cato Networks & Security Advisor at Glilot Capital Partners.
Career
In 2012, he joined the Israeli government unit - GOV.IL and was part of the team building the "Har Hakesef" service and the first online result in the 2013 election. Spitzer left the Israeli Government in 2014 and started working at ClickSoftware as Senior Cloud Services Architect. Prior to his arrival at Click, the company sold only on-prem solutions and when he joined the team in 2014, the company started to adopt cloud computing. In 2015 ClickSoftware was acquired by Francisco Partners and became a private company.[1].
In 2016, Spitzer joined Dome9 Security (later to be acquired by CheckPoint) and led the EMEA sales engineering team and acted as an outbound product manager.
In 2017, Spitzer joined ControlUp technologies. He built the DevOps and CloudOps teams from scratch. In August 2018, Spitzer changed his position in ControlUp and became the first Chief Security Officer at ControlUp and established a Security department that was responsible for leading secure product design, Penetration testing, and development efforts focused on bringing the competitive, economic and security benefits of cloud computing to ControlUp's customers by considering requirements based on Governance, risk management and compliance (GRC).
Advisory board and tech publications
In 2020, Spitzer started to become more involved in the Israeli High-tech industry and began lecturing on cyber security and cloud computing and has become a Security advisor for early-stage startups backed by Jerusalem Venture Partners and K1 Investment Management.
Spitzer's first public article was published in December 2020 regarding Shirbit data leak [2]. Moving forward, Spitzer published more articles regarding cyber-Security. In August 2021, Spitzer posted an article in GeekTime called 'Cybercrime: The emerging global pandemic' [3] that became one of his highlights in future presentations and lectures. In October 2021, Spitzer published an article that discussed an Israeli hospital (Hillel Yaffe Medical Center) targeted by Ransomware.[4] The article originally appeared in The Jerusalem Post and was re-published on more than 80,000 websites across the world. Following this article, Spitzer was invited to an interview on the same topic on Ynet[5] and Maariv [6] and a radio interview at 100fm radio station in Israel [7]
