Early Life and Education[edit]
Amr Nohan was born in El Agami neighborhood, Alexandria Governorate. He graduated from Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Azhar University in 2011, and he obtained his law degree from the same university. He embarked on postgraduate studies during his first three-year detention period in a free speech case, a request that authorities denied.[2]

Amr Nohan was arrested twice during the reign of Sisi. His first arrest was for three years on charges of mocking President Sisi. His second arrest, for three and a half years, was on charges of belonging to a leftist group.[2]
He was released by a presidential pardon on October 16, 2022, which some considered an important step towards enhancing human rights and freedoms in Egypt.[3]
