Amjad Ssentomero commonly known as Amsento is a Ugandan fashion designer.[1]
Early life and Education
Amjad Ssentomero (born 14 January 2000), popularly known by his designer brand name AMSENTO , is a Muslim Ugandan owning a designer brand called amsento. Well known, the name came from his names Am and Sento making amsento. With the design and fashion description, he stated that it means Approach Mania Style Exclusive Natural Trend Opalescent . He studied from KING FAHAD ISLAMIC PRIMARY SCHOOL[2], Bilal Islamic Institute[3] and kibuli secondary school[4]. His interest in fashion began at a young age, when at the age of 20 he started his fashion house called amsento[5]. However, it is his brand that he is best known for to date, and he is considered one of Uganda's top fashion brand designers. In 2020, when amsento signed to a fashion industry, he began to make greater and more stylish designs. Since then he has released several collections including the trending VOUIGISH COLLECTION[6] which is an autumn fall of 2022. Amsento is regarded as one of the best and most successful fashion designers in Uganda.
Career
In 2020, he started his own label Amsento, a designer fashion house in kampala. His designs have showcased in Uganda, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and California. The Story of Amjad Ssentomero of AMSENTO designer brand[7]
In 2022, he launched the amsento iMagazine, a countrywide magazine of fashion including all aspects and styles in fashion. It has been showing all different news about fashion and also being a shopping bag from where you can shop anything from amsento. This has been a great fashion magazine in Kampala and Uganda at large.
Recognition
In 2020, he received an award for 'young designer brand' at UGFA Awards. This 2022 he appeared in the nominees' list in the ASFAS awards coming as the Emerging Fashion brand of the year 2022.[8]
