André Wallace (born October 20, 1966) is an American politician from New York. He served as acting mayor of Mount Vernon, New York[1] and as a member of the Mount Vernon City Council.[2]

Wallace is the founder and CEO of Creative Direction Construction and Design, a construction management firm.

Personal life[edit]

Wallace was born in The Bronx, New York. He moved to Mount Vernon to start his construction management firm after attending college.

In January 2021, Wallace narrowly escaped a serious accident when a car drove into a bagel shop, nearly hitting him. He survived with a back injury.[3]

Political career[edit]

From 2016 to 2019, Wallace served on the Mount Vernon City Council. In 2019, he served as City Council President and ran for mayor but finished last in the Democratic primary.[4]

In November 2020, Wallace announced his candidacy for the Mount Vernon City Council again.[5]

Mayor of Mount Vernon[edit]

In July 2019, Mayor Richard Thomas pleaded guilty to misappropriating campaign funds. Wallace became acting mayor but was removed by the city council a month later. On August 12, 2019, a judge ruled that Wallace should serve the rest of Thomas' term.[6]
