Andrea Gomes da Silva (born 27 September 1972) is the Executive Director of Markets and Mergers at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

Early life[edit]

Andrea Gomes da Silva was born in Kettering, Northamptonshire on 27 September 1972 to Dr. Luiz E. Gomes da Silva and Anthea Blackhurst Gomes da Silva (née Blackhurst).[1]

Gomes da Silva was educated at Malvern Girls College. Gomes da Silva graduated from Exeter College, Oxford with a 1st class BA (Hons) in Modern Languages. After Oxford, Gomes da Silva completed an MA in Latin American Studies at Birkbeck College, University of London.[1]

Career[edit]

Gomes da Silva was a partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer from 2008 until July 2015.[1]

Competition and Markets Authority[edit]

Gomes da Silva joined the Competition and Markets Authority as the Senior Legal Director for Markets, Mergers, and Sectoral Regulation in July 2015.[1]

Gomes da Silva was appointed the Executive Director of Markets and Mergers at the Competition and Markets Authority on 15 March 2018.[2]

Personal life[edit]

Gomes da Silva married Graham Gibb in 2004.[1] She speaks English, Portuguese, French, and Spanish.[3]
