Andy C. (Cobos), Andres Ricardo Cobos Martínez, was born on October 19, 1977 in Cordoba, Spain. He is a musician and composer (drums and piano mostly, but also plays other instruments). Generally known for his work as a drummer in bands like Saratoga, Dark Moor and Wormed. He has worked as a session musician for many artists, Rafa Blas (The Voice ), Ruth Lorenzo (X -Factor & Eurovision ), Leo Jiménez Stravaganzza, Bertín Osborne and Skizoo.

He is currently a full-time drummer in the band Lords of Black.

Training

Andy started receiving music lessons from his father (pianist), who started him in piano and music theory until he got into the conservatory.

In 1986 he was accepted at the Conservatory of Classical Music " Rodolfo Halfter " in Madrid (at 9 years old), where he studied under the plan 66, Piano and Percussion as main instruments.

In 1992 he went to the school of drummers "Total Percussion " (Madrid), for about 5 years, where he studied with Manuel Sanchez and expanded his knowledge of Rock, Jazz and Latin music.

In 2002 he studied with Alexander Corostola, xylophone.

In 2004 he began studying at the Jazz School "Nuevas musicas" with Pedro Ojesto (Jazz/Flamenco pianist) and Adalberto Cevasco (musician of Piazzolla and Frank Sinatra).

In 2006, he went to study at the "Jazz Consevatorium Rotterdam, Codarts Vool High School" in the Netherlands. He studied Music Production, Piano and Pedagogy.

Career

When he was 13 he began playing in the orchestra of his family, with his father and brother. Shortly after, he formed his first band and began playing at major national festivals (Festimad 1996) where he became known in the underground scene.

In 2000 the band "Avulsed" offered him his first international tour (American Stab Bound 2000) as a drummer of the band. The tour began in Los Angeles and continued for Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

From 1998 to 2007 Andy played in the brutal death band Wormed with whom they published several albums (Floating cadaver in the monocrhome, Voxel Mistosis & Planisphaerium). The band is widely accepted in the global underground scene and edited their recordings through the Japanese company Macabre Mementos. They performed several tours around the world, including a Japan tour in 2004 (the first tour of a Spanish band for this style), European festivals (Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland) and at the prestigious festival Maryland Death Fest (USA).

In 2003 he joined the band Dark Moor with whom he recorded three albums in studio, Dark Moor (2003), Beyond the Sea (2005) and Tarot (2007) edited by JVC for the Asian distribution. For the recording of this album he worked with the Italian producer Luigi Stefanini, at New Sin Studios in Italy. With Dark Moor he played several Tours, one of the most important being the European tour in 2003 (Dark Moor, After Forever (Nl) + Nightmare (Fr) + Amaran (Sw).

In 2006 he joined permanently in the band Saratoga and played with them in the tour Tierra de Lobos. In the next years with Saratoga Andy recorded at the studio the next albums: VII (2007), Secretos y Revelaciones (2009), DVD Live Revelaciones de una noche (2010), and Nemesis (2012). Apart from playing drums and piano, Andy composed several of the singles and songs of the Albums. " “Sigues estando (en mi vida)”, “El planeta se apaga”, “Cuando tus sueños te hagan llorar”, “Luna Llena”, “Hasta el día mas oscuro”, “Perversidad”, “El último vals”... With Saratoga he played lots of tours in the American continent, obtaining large audience and media coverage, they played in the venue "La Boom" in New York. Andy was in the band until December 2013 when Saratoga announced an indefinite stop in their activities.

During the period from 2007 to 2014 he took on a lot of work as a session musician, playing with artists and bands like Bertín Osborne, Ruth Lorenzo (X- factor, Eurovision ) with whom he recorded the tune for the TV Show "I want to be brave", Antena 3. He contributed to recording music for commercials (Orange, one and no more).

In 2012 he toured with the band " 037 " from his former partner in Saratoga (Leo Jiménez ) and also toured with "Stravaganzza" through México.

In 2013 he took the tour to promote the first album of Rafa Blas winner of the TV Show “The Voice”, Tele 5, where he played drums and piano/keyboards.

In 2013 Andy played drums and percussion (Kahon flamenco) in the recording sessions of the new album of Ricardo Moreno " Vodevil Vargas " who was nominated for the "Hollywood Music in Media Awards " for that recording, Andy also produced various projects "Dfábula", "Tete Novoa" and the band from Madrid “Inercia”.

In early 2014, just after the break of his band Saratoga, he met with his partner Tony Hernando, who decided to start a new project "Lords of Black " with the Chilean singer Ronnie Romero and the bass player Victor Duran. For this project they had the help of German producer Roland Grapow (who has worked with them in the three studio albums with Saratoga) and the cover artist Felipe Machado.

Awards

Throughout his career Andy has received several awards and citations for his career as a musician. He has won the award for the best Spanish Rock Drummer granted by vote of the readers of the prestigious communication media "Mariskal Rock" and the magazine "la Heavy" for 4 consecutive years. In 2013 on his last tour with Saratoga through America, the Artists Association Pichinca, Ecuador, was awarded the 2013 musical merit diploma for his international musical work.

Gear (drums) & endorsement

In 2006 Andy signed with international representation trademarks, Mapex Drums and Meinl Cymbals. He still works with those today. In 2012 he began working with manufacturers of drums and Snare drums NPDrums who developed the first signature snare drums Andy C. model.

In 2013 Andy became part of the family of artists from the prestigious American drumsticks Pro-Mark.
