Anil Kumar Pandey (born June 10, 1978) is an Electronics Engineer, inventor, author and scientist [2]. He is currently a Master level technical leader in Keysight Technologies.[3]. His research focuses on antenna design, electromagnetic solvers, signal integrity and power integrity.Pandey is author of technical book titled Practical Microstrip and Printed Antenna Design[4] [5] published by Artech House.

Biography[edit]

In 2001, he graduated from Bipin Tripathi Kumaon Institute of Technology, with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics[6] followed by a Master of Technology in Microwave engineering received in 2003 from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU)in Varanasi India [7].He has designed and developed several microstrip and printed antennas for next-generation communication systems [8]. His current research areas of interest include phased array antennas, 5G communication antennas, remote sensing antenna arrays, multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antennas, switched multibeam antenna arrays, reconfigurable antennas using EBG and FSS structures, metamaterial-based antennas, automotive and ultrawideband antennas for wireless communications systems.

Professional career[edit]

In 2003 Pandey became Scientist in Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).[9], at the Space Applications Centre in Ahmedabad. He started his career as phased array antenna engineer and involved in Microwave Remote Sensing payloads for satellites. He was involved in design for the development of C-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) of the RISAT-1. In 2005 he was promoted to Scientis-D. In 2007, he joind Agilent Technologies as a senior Research and Delopment (R&D) Engineer. He was named the technical lead of Design Flow Verification, and continued to work at the Agilent Technologies until Keysight Technologies seprated from Agilent in 2014 [10]. He is release manager of Advanced Design System (ADS) that is an electronic design automation software.[11] Anil's research focuses on "Phased Array Antenna Designs", which applies beamforming technique to electronically rotate antenna beams in 5G applications.

Research and publications[edit]

Pandey's research interests include communication antenna design, computational electromagnetics, electromagnetic modeling and stimulation of electronic packages, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) analysis, Signal Intigrity and Power Integrity. He has published more than 40 journals and symposium papers[12] on various topics related to antenna design and Signal integrity and one technical book on antenna design. He has two patents in his name. [13] [14]. In 2015, Anil was invited speaker at Ninth National Frontiers of Engineering Symposium for Young Indian Engineers in Jodhpur, India, where his input on aerospace and defense industry design challenges was accepted as one of primary area to boost academia and industry collaboration [15]

Books authored[edit]

  • Anil Pandey, Practical Microstrip and Printed Antenna Design [16], Artech House, 2019

This book is a practical microstrip and printed antenna design guide to cover various real-world applications. Supported with essential equations and illustrations, this practical book helps evaluate various design aspect of the antenna. Readers learn how to use full-wave electromagnetic solvers to analyze and evaluate antenna performances. Based on several years of the Pandey’s research in antenna design and development for RF and microwave applications, this book offers in-depth coverage of microstrip and printed antenna design methodology for modern applications.

Patents[edit]

  • A Device for Feeding Multimode Monopulse Signals from Antenna for Tracking Satellites[17]
  • Four Channel Waveguide Rotary Joint for High Power Application[18]
