Ankit Gupta (Captain)

Ankit Gupta was originally from Gurugram,[1][2][3] and was recruited in the Indian Army three years ago. Gupta, the only son of his parents, was married on 23 November 2020. Shortly after marriage, Gupta returned to duty.[4][5][6]

Martyr[edit]

Ten Para Special Forces of the Indian Army were conducting a rehearsal at Kaylana Lake in Jodhpur on the afternoon of January 7, 2021,[7][8][1] in which Commando Ankit Gupta, along with his comrades, had to practice saving the drowning people by jumping into the water from an army helicopter. Gupta's companions came out of the water after jumping from the helicopter and they were stuck in the water. He died due to drowning in water and his body was removed on 12 January 2021

Captain Ankit hailing from Gurugram was married in the year 2020. During the Captain Ankit exercise, the hands of three people came out but their foot slipped and they fell into the water. The lake in which the accident took place is an artificial lake and is about 8 km west of Jodhpur. This lake was built by Pratap Singh in 1872. Drinking water is supplied from this lake to Jodhpur and surrounding areas.

In the exercise in which Captain Ankit has died, the soldiers had to carry out the practice of saving the life of a drowning person. They had to catch the drowning person and bring him to a safe helicopter. The soldiers of 10 Para tried to find Captain Ankit first, but when nothing could happen, they informed their seniors. After this, the police and disaster management teams of the state reached the spot. But Captain Ankit could not be searched.

Navy commandos were called from navy headquarters[edit]

In search of Captain Ankit Gupta, where the army personnel were engaged, the team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF)[9] was also working hard but for 3 days, when no success was achieved, 8 Marcos commandos were sent to search for them, yet when success was handed Did not come After this, 20 more Marcos commandos arrived in Jodhpur on Sunday from Delhi Navy Headquarters.[10][11] They started searching for Captain Ankit Gupta underwater through digital camera from Monday, they were successful in finding Captain Ankit Gupta Keshav on 12 January 2021.[12]

Area was completely sealed[edit]

During the search operation, the army had completely sealed the 1 kilometer area of the spot for the last 6 days. The army was not allowing anyone to come here.[13][14] Captain Ankit Gupta was being monitored through underwater divers through the same air helicopter. The entire hilly region surrounding was sieged by the army.[15]
