Anna Maria Vasa (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.; 23 May – 9 February 1600), was the first-born and eldest daughter of Sigismund III Vasa and his wife, Anne of Austria, Queen of Poland.

Anna died at the age of 6 from measles[1], her brother, Władysław IV Vasa, succeeded to the throne of Poland and Sweden after the death of their father.

Early Life

Born Anna Maria Wazowna, Anna Maria was Princess of Poland and Sweden, she was the eldest daughter of Sigismund III Vasa, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania and his first wife; Anne of Austria, Queen of Poland. She grew up alongside her younger siblings, including her brother Władysław IV Vasa, who succeeded their father as the future King of Poland at the age of 15.[2]

Her parents' union was a political and motivated marriage; it was intended to tie the families of Habsburg and Vasa.

Following her birth, Anna Maria was baptized in Kraków, Poland. She was accompanied by her paternal aunt, Anna Vasa of Sweden.[2] On 10 February 1598, Anna Maria's mother died from a hemorrhage. Growing up, Anna Maria and her brother were placed under the care and teaching of Urszula Meyerin.[3]

On 9 February 1600, Anna Maria died from measles in Kraków, Poland. Her body was buried at the Wawel Cathedral, alongside her parents and her brother.[1]
