Anna Sutton

Anna Sutton is a New Zealand Psychology academic. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in Organisational Psychology and the Deputy Head of the School of Psychology at the University of Waikato[1].

Academic Career[edit]

Sutton earned her PhD in Occupational Psychology at the University of Leeds. She was appointed lecturer in Psychology at Leeds Beckett University and Senior Lecturer in organisational psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University[2].

Sutton specialises in the application of psychology to understanding and improving work lives and workplaces. Her research and publications focus on the role of personality, authenticity and self-awareness at work, primarily investigating how they influence well-being[1]. Sutton's research also seeks to understand the differing personalities and roles people take on when they are at work or home[2].

In 2019, Sutton published research examining the relationship between authenticity in the workplace, and job performance and satisfaction. The study suggested that authenticity was a factor in both employee wellbeing and engagement[3].
