Ansys Lumerical is a suite of photonic simulation software[3][4]. Ansys Lumerical FDTD[5] simulates photonic devices using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method or using rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA). Ansys Lumerical MODE[6] simulates optical waveguides using bidirectional eigenmode expansion, varFDTD, and finite difference eigenmode solvers. Ansys Lumerical Multiphysics[7] is a multiphysics suite for photonic design. Ansys Lumerical INTERCONNECT[8] is a design environment for classical and quantum photonic integrated circuits (PICs). Lumerical features its own scripting language, which can be used to program the software. The suite can be controlled externally using the provided API for Python. Lumerical is widely used in photonics, as can be gauged from the hundreds of scholarly publications which cite Lumerical FDTD alone.[9]
