Anti-Jain Sentiments
Anoop mandal[edit]
Anoop Mandal is an antiJain[1] organisation based in northern India, which follows the teachings of Jagathitkarni.[2] There isn’t much credible research or literature available on this mandal, but a 1991 book titled The Assembly of Listeners: Jains in Society has traced this “anti-Jain” organisation’s beginnings to 1920, by a man called Anoop Das who was very influenced by communism in Europe. The book also talks about how Anoop Mandal workers would constantly raid Jain villages in pre-Independent India, and was subsequently banned by the princely administration.[1]
A resident of Usmanpura, has filed several police complaints against ‘Anoop Mandal’.“This cult openly abuses the Jain community and now they are attacking our monks,” he said, adding that most of the road accidents in which Jain monks had been killed had taken place within 20-30 km of centres where ‘Anoop Mandal’ is said to be active.
