Apashe

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Apashe, born John De Buck, is a Belgian electronic music producer currently based in Montreal, Canada[1]. Currently signed to Kannibalen Records, Apashe is recognized for his unique style, a cinematic blend of classical and electronic. He is well known for the use of his music in blockbuster trailers, as well as high profile television commercials including partnerships with adidas, Apple, Netflix, HBO, Amazon and more.[2]

Career[edit]

Apashe first moved to Montreal to study electroacoustics at Concordia University and after two years he was hired as a sound designer for Sonart[3]. In 2005, Apashe began making music under his moniker and releasing it independently across the internet.[4] Over the years Apashe caught the years of Black Tiger Sex Machine, the label owners of Kannibalen Records who signed Apashe to a deal in 2012.[5] In the beginning, Apashe's music was heavily influenced by hip-hop, bass, neurofunk and trap, with the orchestral part of his style developing over the course of the next several years. Throughout that time Apashe created viral hits including "No Twerk" and "Battle Royale," as well as his iconic Backstreet Boys remix.[6]

In 2018, Apashe won Electronic EP of the Year at Canada's GAMIQ awards for his Requiem project.[7]

Apashe's latest project, the Renaissance LP, was created alongside the 69-piece Prague Symphonic Orchestra. The orchestra recorded original compositions by Apashe, who then remixed them with his electronic tastes.[8] On this album, Apashe also collaborated with esteemed artists like Tech N9ne, wifisfuneral, and the Russian celebrity rapper Instasamka, who was also featured in the music video for "Uebok (Gotta Run)."[9]
