Ape conservation includes any of numerous efforts to protect members of the taxonomic clade of apes (hominoidea) and their habitats. The goal of such conservationists is to respect the intelligence of these primates, which includes great apes (hominids) and lesser apes. The relatedness of apes-- and in particular of great apes-- to humans is also a motivator for their protection.

Many ape families face various threats to their long term survival and thriving. A number of organizations around the world address these threats in various ways.
