Gieniutkowo is an animal sanctuary for pigs in Nowe Węgorzynko, Gmina Węgorzyno, in north-western Poland.[1][4] The sanctuary houses 34 pigs in an area of one hectare. It is owned and operated by a graphic designer and an IT specialist,[5] Monica and Marcin Krasoń. They are a couple, originally from Łódź,[6][5] and both vegans.[1] The pigs come from interventions against animal abuse or were donated voluntarily by owners unable to take care of them.[1] One of the pigs has impaired legs and uses a wheelchair.[4] Gieniutkowo was registered as a fundacja (foundation) in March 2021.[3] The foundation signed an open letter on carbon pricing food[7] and ran a crowdfunding campaign to build barns for the 2021–2022 winter.[8]
