Archduchess Anna Astrid of Austria-Este

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Archduchess Anna Astrid of Austria-Este (born 17 May 2016)[1] is a member of the House of Austria-Este.[citation needed] She is seventh in line to the throne of Belgium,[2] the first person in the history of the Belgian monarchy to be in line of succession who is not a member of the Belgian Royal Family[citation needed]

Birth and family[edit]

Anna Astrid was born in Brussels, Belgium, the first child of Prince Amedeo of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este and his wife Elisabetta 'Lili' Rosboch von Wolkenstein.[1] She is the first grandchild of Princess Astrid of Belgium and Prince Lorenz of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Estea and the first great-grandchild of King Albert II of Belgium[3] and Queen Paola of Belgium. At birth Anna Astrid weighed 3.3 kg and measured 52 cm.[3] She is named after both her grandmothers, Italian Countess Anna Maria 'Lilia' de Smecchia, and Princess Astrid.[1] Anna Astrid lives on the Royal Domain of Laeken, where her parents, grandparents, greatgrandparents and great-uncle Philippe of Belgium and his family reside.[citation needed]

Succession rights to the Belgian throne[edit]

Due to a Royal Order (Belgium) issued on the 12th of November 2015 restricting the inheritance of the title Prince and Princess of Belgium, Anna Astrid is the first person born into Belgium's Royal Family who does not bear a Belgian Royal title.[citation needed] (King Philippe designed this Royal Order specifically to contain the number of members of the Belgian Royal Family and their right to bear a Royal title to his own offspring, and the children and grandchildren of future monarchs thereafter)[citation needed] Therefore, the grandchildren of his sister, Princess Astrid, and his brother, Prince Laurent of Belgium are no longer entitled to a Belgian Royal title.[2] Anna Astrid is the first person born under these rules, and is therefore the first person in history to be in line to the Belgian throne who is not a Prince or Princess of Belgium. She still inherited all of her paternal grandfather's Austrian Imperial titles.[citation needed]
