Ariel Schleicher is an American visual artist based in Prague, Czech Republic. Her practice includes oil painting and mixed media, often focusing on themes of the body, classical forms, and contemporary reinterpretation. Schleicher's work has been exhibited internationally in galleries and museums across Europe and the United States.
Early life and education
Schleicher was born in Florida and raised in the United States. She studied marketing at New York University's Stern School of Business, graduating in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science. After university, she pursued formal art training through public courses in painting and drawing at institutions such as the New York School of the Arts, the Art Students League of New York, Prague City University, and UMPRUM (Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague). Schleicher relocated to Prague, Czech Republic, where she continues to live and work as an artist.
Career
Schleicher began exhibiting her work publicly in 2018, with early digital features in Women Who Draw and the Minetta Review. Her paintings explore themes of classical form, time, and embodiment, often working in oil and mixed media.
Her work was shown in digital exhibitions throughout the early 2020s, including No Contact[1] and 3 Elements Review. In 2023, she participated in PIXELS at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Massachusetts[2] and exhibited her series Undecember at Luna Grande Gallery in Istanbul.
In 2024, her collage work appeared in a group show at the Rothmayerová Villa, a branch of the Museum of Prague. Later that year, she was featured in an artist segment on Great Day Live Tampa Bay.[3]
In 2025, Schleicher's work was exhibited in Éthéré at Van Gogh Gallery in Madrid[4] and in Décor, a contemporary group exhibition in Milan hosted by the Artemida Experience.[5][6] Forthcoming exhibitions include Beyond Borders at the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona and Red Dot Art Fair in Miami.
Outside of fine art, Schleicher has worked as a digital designer. From 2018 to 2022, she was Senior Digital Designer at SmartGift (acquired by 1-800-Flowers.com), and is listed as co-inventor on U.S. Patent No. 10,679,268[7] for a digital gifting interface. She was previously a creative contributor at MSCHF, where her work on the MTV Fist Pump Counter app earned a Silver Clio Award[8] and a nomination at the Shorty Awards.[9] She is currently the co-founder and designer at CRFT, a digital design agency.
