Armed Ark[1] is a six-piece progressive metal band from Hyderabad, India.

The band's current line-up consists of guitarist Vijay Paul, drummer Spurjan Raj, vocalist Vindya Naidu, guitarist John Isaac, keyboardist Pradeep Neelam and bassist Garry Matthews.

The band was founded in 2014 by Nishanth Kumar who also named the band Armed Ark.

Armed Ark initially started as a four-piece alternative rock band with vocalist Srimanth Kumar, guitarist Barath Kumar, bassist Nishanth Kumar and drummer Manoj Yadla. The band was playing regional music in Hindi and Telugu.

In the year 2014, the band decided to expand its sound, moving more in the direction of heavy metal. Barath Kumar insisted that the band needed another guitarist. Bassist Nishanth Kumar invited his friend John Isaac, who is a guitarist and singer-songwriter heavily influenced by bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Opeth and other thrash and progressive metal bands.

The guitarist also suggested adding a keyboardist, and John Isaac invited his good friend Pradeep Neelam to join Armed Ark. The band had already started writing their music in 2014 and were making sure the sound was heavy. Soon the band had to look for a guitarist as one of the founding members, Barath Kumar, decided to quit. The band was impressed by a guitarist named Vijay Paul, who also had similar influences as the band's guitarist John Isaac, and without delay Armed Ark invited Vijay Paul to join them. In the year 2015, the band was all set to write and play some progressive thrash metal music as the two main songwriters, John and Vijay, were influenced by 80's and 90's thrash metal and progressive metal. The band evolved from alternative rock to Progressive Thrash metal. Armed Ark continued writing music and playing live. After a few months, the band was hit by another blow as the drummer Manoj Yadla decided to quit. Armed Ark found a replacement for Manoj as Spurjan Raj joined Armed Ark as a drummer.
