History[edit]

In 1999 the gallerist Siddharth Tagore founded Art & Deal magazine.[2] Art and Deal has grown from its nascent stage to be a definitive international platform of serious commentary and analysis of contemporary art & culture. With an effort to offer a direct and uncompromising approach to exploring art in every aspect Art & Deal enlightens and pampers their interest providing them intrinsic knowledge.

The government of India's cultural wing, the Lalit Kala Akademi, brings out a journal of Visual art, but its publication has been sporadic in recent years. The leading independent contemporary arts publication in the country is The Art News Magazine of India, generally known as Art India, a quarterly established in 1996, and oriented toward experimental art rather than established masters. Art & Deal magazine broke that trend by originally focussing on senior artists, mainly from Bengal, but in recent years it has moved closer to the Art India kind of approach.[3]

In 2013, Art & Deal launched 'Travel& Deal, which it calls the "sister concern of Art & Deal, the only monthly magazine on art"[4]

Johny ML is the present editor of the magazine.[5][6]
