Arun Behl, is an Indian actor and scriptwriter who appears mostly in Bollywood films and serials on National Television. He is best known for his works in Tango Charlie (2005),[1] Virsa (Screenplay & Dialogue, 2010),[2] Halla Bol (2008), Madholal Keep Walking (2009), Marega Salaa (2009),[3] Bangaram (Telugu, 2006),[4] Agneepath (2012) and Direct Ishq (2016).[5]
Early life and education[edit]
Arun was born in the family of Ranvir Singh Behl (an ex-army man) and Jai Devi Behl on the 7th of December, 1973 in Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh. He was the youngest of three children. After completing his basic education from Vijay High School, Mandi, he acquired his graduation degree from Vallabh Government Degree College, Mandi. There he discovered his passion for acting while taking part in college plays and decided to join a One year full time course from the Himachal Culture Research Forum And Theater Repertory (attached to the National School of Drama, Delhi) in Mandi itself. After completing his acting course he moved to Delhi.[6]
Arun was good in sports too. In his school days, he was the core member of the Mandi district football team. He played several state football tournaments as well as represented his state Himachal Pradesh in the national level sub-junior championship which was held in West Bengal. He was a core member of the football and athletics teams of Vallabh Government Degree College Mandi. He was a gold medalist of Himachal Pradesh University in 400 meter race and silver medalist in 800 meter and 1500 meter races in inter-university championship. Arun initially chose soccer as his career but he was very much mesmerized by acting and films. One day his friend offered him a role in one act play for an inter-college competition. After that he never looked back and chose acting as his career.[7]
Career[edit]
Arun Behl started his career in theater in 1994. After completing his acting course in 1999, he moved to New Delhi. He worked at The Little Theatre Group repertory, New Delhi for a while then at the Sahitya Kala Parishad repertory from 2000 to 2002 as a professional actor. He has worked in over 70 plays. Later, he moved to Mumbai and worked in Movies, TV serials, Ad films and short films. Apart from these he has also shown his writing skills in the film - Virsa (Punjabi). For this project, he was nominated at the 1st Punjabi Film Awards 2011, in the best Screenplay and Dialogue category.[8]
