Arunabha Ghosh (born June 21, 1978) is an Indian public policy expert, adviser, author, and columnist.[1] He is the founder-CEO of the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), a policy research institution based in New Delhi.[2][3] He has held this position since 2010.[4][5]

Early life and education

Ghosh holds a doctorate in international relations from the University of Oxford, an M.A. in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Balliol College, University of Oxford and topped Economics from St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi.[6][7]

Career

Ghosh previously worked at Princeton University,[8] the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in New York,[9] Global Trade Governance Project, GEG, Oxford,[10][11] the World Trade Organization (WTO)[12][13] and Oxfam International.[14]

In 2015, the French government invited him to advise on the COP 21 climate negotiations as a Personnalité d’Avenir.[15][16][17][18] He is currently co-chair of the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Clean Air.[19][20]

He has been nominated by the Secretary-General of the United Nations to the Committee for Development Policy, an advisory body of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), for a three-year period (from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2024).[21]

In March 2022, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations appointed Ghosh as a member of a high-level expert group on Net-Zero Commitments of Non-State actors.[22][23]
