Aryaman Birla (born 9 July 1997), is an Indian businessman and seventh generation scion of the Birla family.[1] In 2023, he was appointed as one of the directors of Aditya Birla Management Corporation, the apex body responsible for providing strategic direction to the Aditya Birla group’s businesses, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, and Grasim Industries. In 2024, he was also appointed as a Director on the Board of Hindalco, the metals flagship of the Group.[2][3]
He is a founder of Aditya Birla Ventures, the venture capital arm of the Aditya Birla Group and Aditya Birla New Age hospitality (ABNAH), the hospitality arm of the Group. He is also a former cricketer.[4][5][6]
Early life and education
He was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra to Kumar Mangalam Birla, an Indian Industrialist and Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, and Neerja Birla. He has two sisters, Ananya Birla and Advaitesha Birla.[7]
He completed his schooling in Mumbai. He pursued a degree in commerce through distance learning from the University of Mumbai. He later earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.[8][9][10]
Sports Career
He made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy on 25 November 2017.[11] In January 2018, he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 IPL auction.[12] In November 2018, he scored his maiden century in first-class cricket.[13] In 2019, he took a sabbatical from cricket.[14] He was released by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 2020 IPL auction.[15]
Business Career
Aryaman holds director positions in Grasim Industries, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd., Aditya Birla Management Corporation (P) Ltd., and Hindalco. Additionally, he is a member of the Atlas SkillTech University Advisory Board.[16][17]
He started his entrepreneurial journey with Aditya Birla New Age Hospitality, a company involved in operating and managing food and beverage ventures.[18] The company also operates Jolie's, a private members club. In December 2023, the company opened a new restaurant, Ode, a casual, yet premium, dining chain co-created with celebrated chef Rahul Akerkar.[19][20]
In 2024, under Aryaman’s direction, Aditya Birla New Age Hospitality opened Waarsa, a signature Awadhi cuisine launched in partnership with chef Rahul Akerkar and master chef Mukhtar Qureshi, located in the iconic NCPA precinct in Mumbai.[21][22]
The launch of Waarsa also coincided with the launch of Bay 21, a social gathering space for hire-outs, banquets, and events. BAY 21 is meticulously crafted to reflect the grandeur of the NCPA while exuding the intimacy of a sophisticated lounge. In 2025, ABNAH opened Supa San, a Japanese izakaya concept in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).[23][24]
In 2022 he established Aditya Birla Ventures, as part of the Aditya Birla Group. It is a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage companies from pre-Series A to Series B. Its investments include E-commerce SAAS start-up, Dukaan, Online jewellery brand, Giva, Fintech start-up, FinBox, health-tech start-up, Eka Care, Agri-tech start-up, Mooofarm, Space start-up, Digantara and , Pixxel, travel and lifestyle brand, Mokobara, AI-driven plant monitoring, UptimeAI, and fintech, Stable Money.[25][26]
