Asher Holzer (Hebrew: אשר הולצר‎) is an Israeli physicist and entrepreneur. Holzer serves as president and chairman of dozens of companies in the technological development of life-saving products. Most of his life he was engaged in establishing companies engaged in developing and improving medical device technologies and contributed greatly to improving stent technology that increases catheter efficiency and success among patients after a heart attack and medical Cannabis.[1] Some of the companies he founded are traded on the Nasdaq[2] and dozens of patents are registered in his name.[3]

Holzer holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics, physics, a master's degree in materials engineering and a bachelor of science in nuclear physics.

Biography[edit]

Upon graduation began Holzer working for biomed companies in which he developed advanced medical equipment. Initially at KEVEX, which develops radiation detector systems.

In 1984, he founded "the Jordan Valley Applied Radiation" Company, which developed a system for analytical tests using nuclear radiation. The system included radiation detectors, unique electronics and software.

In 1988 he joined Direx Medical Systems and was responsible for developing a system for cracking kidney stones as well as devices for treating the prostate gland.

In 1996, he worked for Biosense, which was acquired by Johnson & Johnson. Holzer was involved in the development of a cardiac cavity navigation system that allows imaging of the heart cavity as part of the treatment of arrhythmias.

In 2001, he established and served as CEO of ADAR Technologies. The company was an incubator for over 22 different companies that worked to develop medical products. Vasculogix, which develops vascular and stent equipment with a monitoring system that warns of a possible leak to the aortic aneurysm, and many other companies that have raised more than $9 million under the company.

In 2004 he founded the company TheraCoat,[4] later called urogen and traded on the Nasdaq under the name URGN.[5] urogen has developed a new way to treat bladder cancer. Innovative using a special gel that allows better penetration of a drug into the tissues.[6][7]

In 2006, Holzer and Ophir Paz founded InspireMD, where he also served as president. The company is an Israeli biomed company traded on NASDAQ (named: NYSPR) and manufactures a stent component built as a thin polymer fiber network, the degree of thinness of which prevents the body from creating a counter-reaction to stent implantation.[8]

In 2012 he joined BioSig as its chief scientist the company that developed medical equipment designed to minimize noise and electromagnetic interference in products that treat cardiac arrhythmias.[9][10]

In 2013, he was vice president of Magnetecs Corporation, a company engaged in invasive robotic medicine. It offers robotic developments for cardiological uses.

In 2017, he started practicing medical cannabis under the HiPharma company in Kibbutz Ramot Menashe.[11] At the same time, he founded the HeartChain company,[12] which is developing a platform that enables fundraising for start-up companies using digital currencies.

In 2019, he founded StickIt, a company that makes toothpick-like "cannabis sticks" that improve the ability and convenience of using medical cannabis.[13]
