Ashleigh Aston Moore (November 13, 1981 – December 10, 2007) was an American actress, known for playing Chrissy in the 1995 film Now and Then and Madeleine in the 2007 film Fosse.
Life and career[edit]
Born Ashley Rogers in Sunnyvale, California,[1] she began acting at the age of four. After appearing in numerous commercials, she landed the dual roles of Alpha and Donna in the CBC Television children's series The Odyssey in 1992. The show lasted three seasons, ending in 1994 with 39 episodes. Moore's best known role was in the 1995 coming-of-age ensemble comedy-drama film Now and Then. Set in 1970, Moore portrayed the child version of Christina "Chrissy" Dewitt who was portrayed as an adult by Rita Wilson.[2]
She later guest starred on popular television shows such as Madison, Northern Exposure, and Strange Luck. Her latest recorded acting credit was in 1997 for an episode of "Touched by an Angel"
In 1997, She landed as herself in Bear in the Big Blue House of Season 1 contains 26 episodes after she stopped activating for Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Florida.
In 2004, Moore had developed a heroin addiction as a teen which continued until around her death despite multiple detox and drug rehabilitation attempts.[3]
Moore’s three last roles were a 2007 films Juno and Hairspray as dance patron and Fosse as Madeline.
This severely weakened Moore's immune system, making her more susceptible and vulnerable to infection.[4]
On December 10, 2007, Moore died in Richmond, British Columbia, from heroine overdose.[1][5][6]
