Ashwin Kumar L is an Indian actor, who has worked in Tamil films and Television serials. After beginning his career in Star Vijay as a television actor, he gained fame playing the lead role in the serials Rettai Vaal Kuruvi[1], Raja Rani (Telugu)[2] and Ninaikka Therintha Manamae[3]. He has subsequently moved on to acting in films OK Kanmani, Adithya Varma, Indha Nilai Maarum [4] and notably appeared in many Short films, Music Albums and TV Commercials.
Career[edit]
Born and brought up in Coimbatore, Ashwin Kumar did his schooling at the Carmel Garden, pursued his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Kumaraguru College of Technology and then obtained a Masters in Business Management from PSG Institute of Management.[5] During his college days, he developed a passion for acting and decided to pursue his career in Acting and attended auditions.
Playing the role of Bala in the Star Vijay Serial, Rettai Vaal Kuruvi won positive critical acclaim for his performance.[6][7][8][9] Following the end of the series, Ashwin is noted for his performances in the Award Winning Short films Kadhal ondru Kanden [10][11] and 3 Scenes of his Lovestory.[12][13] He subsequently went on to do many TV commercials and print ads for popular Brands including Bru (coffee),[14] Butterfly Appliances,[15] Tata Durashine, Jeyachandran Textile, Saravana Stores,[16] Viveks, Minister White Dhoties, Chennai Silks,[17] Standard Fireworks and Pothys.
At the start of his film career, Ashwin was notably seen in Mani Ratnam's O Kadhal Kanmani as a colleague of Dulquer Salmaan's character. He then portrayed the role of Dhruv Vikram’s brother in the highly acclaimed Adithya Varma movie. He will next be seen playing the lead role of a young entrepreneur in the Independent Feature Film Indha Nilai Maarum.
